Classical mechanics, FYTN09, 7.5 hp

This is an advanced course in Classical Mechanics, there is also an intermediate one called "Classical mechanics and special relativity,  FYTB14".

The course is given the second period of the autumn in odd years. 


This course gives a solid basis in classical mechanics in its Lagrangian and Hamiltonian formulation, with connections to modern physics.

Among the topics covered by this course are the variation principle and Lagrange's equations, the central force problem with two bodies, the motion of rigid bodies, small oscillations, the theory of special relativity, the Hamilton formalism, continuous systems and fields, canonical transformations  and perturbation theory.
